Finance Trust Bank (FTB) is now a Tier 2 Financial Institution that is regulated by the Central Bank of Uganda. FTB was first registered as an NGO in 1984 as “Uganda Women’s Finance and Credit Trust Limited” which later changed its name to “Uganda Women’s Finance Trust Limited” (UWFT) in 1997. On 12th October 2005, UWFT was licensed as a Microfinance Deposit-taking Institution. FTB transitioned to a Tier 1 financial institution on 11th November 2013 and held this license until 30th March 2026. FTB has since changed license to a Tier 2 credit institution effective 1st April 2026.

With its headquarters at TWED Plaza Lumumba Avenue, Finance Trust Bank operates a network of 34 Branches, including one at Kalangala Islands. 70% of the bank’s branches are in peri-urban and rural areas.

The bank currently serves over 400,000 savers and over 40,000 borrowers offering them a wide range of products including loans, deposits and trade finance solutions.

The bank offers an array of other services to both account holders and non account holders through partnership services like utility bill payments, government collections, bancassurance and other value-added services.
